News London's High Society to Close in January 2006 Following the departure of Jerry Hall from High Society, Mark Goucher Productions has brought forward the musical’s closure to Jan. 21, 2006.

The show transferred from the Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park to the Shaftesbury Theatre on Oct. 10 and was taking bookings until March 25, 2006.

Two weeks ago Hall announced a temporary departure from the popular Cole Porter musical because of glandular fever. Although Hall had already missed several performances before the announcement, she had said that she hoped to return to the production before the end of the run.

Last year the model-turned-actress walked out on the King’s Head production of Darlin’ Janey, citing the same medical reasons

In Ian Talbot’s production ofHigh Society Hall, who made her West End debut in 2000 as Mrs. Robinson in a stage adaptation of The Graduate, received star billing for the small role of Mother Lord. Since Hall left, Ali McInnes has taken on the role.

High Society, which contains such classic Porter songs as “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and “Swell Party,” is based on Philip Barry’s 1939 play The Philadelphia Story, which was recently revived at the Old Vic starring Kevin Spacey.
