International News London's Matilda to Welcome Wicked Alum Gina Beck, David Shannon, and More The Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly musical is in its sixth year at the Cambridge Theatre.

The West End production will welcome four new adults to the cast beginning September 12—three to terrorize the “revolting children” and one to comfort.

West End veteran David Shannon will assume the role of Miss Trunchbull from Craige Els; his previous London stage credits include The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Martin Guerre, and Cats.

Gina Beck, known for playing the role of Glinda in the West End’s and U.S. national tour of Wicked, will take over as Miss Honey from Miria Parvin. She has also appeared in the West End productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Show Boat, and Les Miserables.

Lastly, Tony nominee Tom Edden (National Theatre’s Amadeus, One Man, Two Guvnors) and Marianne Benedict (Cats U.K. tour) will play Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood. They step in for Michael Begley and Rebecca Thornhill, respectively.

Additional new casting, including the new young performers who will share the title role, will be announced at a later date. Lilian Hardy, Emma Moore, Éva-Marie Saffrey, and Abbie Vena currently share the role.

The full adult cast includes Keisha Amponsa Banson, Richard Astbury, David Birch, Maria Graciano, Karina Hind, Peter Houston, Katie Lee, Vicki Lee Taylor, Kris Manuel, Bryan Mottram, Tom Muggeridge, Emma Robotham-Hunt, Simon Shorten, Biancha Szynal, Callum Train, and Robert Tregoning.

The Royal Shakespeare Company production of Matilda continues to play the Cambridge Theatre. Tickets are currently on sale through May 28, 2018. A U.K. and Ireland tour kick off in the 2018–2019 season.
