News London's My One and Only to Close Aug. 3

The Gershwin musical My One and Only is to close Aug 3.

The last performance of the critically and publicly acclaimed production of the classic Gershwin musical My One and Only will take place on Aug. 3. It is playing at the Piccadilly Theatre, where it opened in February 2002 with a cast headed by Janie Dee and Tim Flavin.

The production came to the Piccadilly after a 12-week sell-out season at the Chichester Festival Theatre. An international tour is scheduled for March 2003, opening at the Ambassador Theatre Group's Churchill Theatre Bromley, with a further production planned for North America in 2003 (no available details yet) and an engagement in Japan confirmed for spring 2004.

The show's closure comes on the same day as the announcement that Betty — at the Vaudeville — will also shut its doors on Aug. 3.
