Industry paper The Stage has announced that the landlords of the Players Theatre, a long-standing London landmark, have temporarily had the theatre shut down in the hope of finding a management that they are happier working with.
It is believed that the Players has debts of some £500,000, which director Dominic Le Foe is reported as blaming partly on very low attendance by members in recent months.
The Players Theatre is one of the gems of the London theatre scene. It is hoped that a more effective management will be found to turn the place around.
