News London's Soho Theatre Announces Spring Season, Including New Plays and Musicals London's Soho Theatre will offer the first full-length run of a new musical called Lift and the world premiere of Arinze Kene's God's Property as part of its spring 2013 season.

Lift, a new musical featuring music and lyrics by Craig Adams and book by Ian Watson, will begin performances Jan. 30, prior to an official opening Feb. 1, for a run through Feb. 24. It is directed by Steven Paling, and presented by Theatre Bench in association with Soho Theatre and Ros Povey. It was developed and licensed by Perfect Pitch.

It is described in press materials as being about "people and connections: the connections we have without knowing about them, the connections we lose sight of and the connections we don't mean to have. In the show, eight people get in a lift (elevator) at Covent Garden tube station on an ordinary morning and what follows is an exploration of their thoughts." Casting is to be announced.

Arinze Kene's God's Property will begin performances Feb. 26, prior to an official opening Feb. 27, for a run through March 2. Directed by Michael Buffond, it is co-produced by Talawa Theatre Company, Soho Theatre and the Albany Theatre.

Set in London in 1982, it revolves around two brothers who are unexpectedly re-united in Deptford, south London. Notions of family and belonging are put to the test when a pack of hostile neighbours gather outside to deliver some rough justice.
