Chess, the 1980s rock musical that played London and subsequently Broadway, is heading back to the New York stage.

White Plains Performing Arts Center STAGE 2 will present a limited engagement of the musical Aug. 7-9 at their theatre in suburban Westchester County.

Keith Levenson will direct with musical direction by Brent McGee and choreography by Jennifer Jonas.

The cast will be headed by Amanda Renee Baker as Florence with John Cormier and Conor McGiffin as well as by Allison Butler, Ruby Day, Andrew Hendrick, Gilgamesh Taggett and So Young Jeon, with John Cedric Anderson, Bryan Campo, James Caposito, Carly Dieck, Victoria Dieck, Nashard Shawndell Gales, Daisy Guevara, Sarah Heinzmann, Tyler Henson, Nick LeMay, Michelle Morris, Elodie Lucinda Mamie Morss, April Nuovo, Casey O’Donnell, Simona Persampieri, Casey Sacco, Sam Stein, Kat Vaccaro, Bjorn Van den Berghe, Samantha Alicandri, Haleigh Brown and Lielle Kaidar.

"In this production of Chess," according to press notes, "the ancient game becomes a metaphor for romantic rivalries, competitive gamesmanship, political power-plays and international intrigues. From one match to another, the players, lovers, politicians, and spies manipulate and are manipulated to the pulse of a monumental rock score by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, with book by Richard Nelson and lyrics by Tim Rice."

The production will also have scenic design by Katie McGeorge, costume design by Antonio Consuegra, lighting design by Catherine Clark, sound design by Scott Tunkel, properties design by Emily Banks and graphic design and projections by Betsy Wilkowski and KELLYdesigns LLC. White Plains Performing Arts Center is located on the third level of City Center mall off Mamaroneck Avenue in downtown White Plains. Tickets cost $35 (adults) and $25 (22 & younger); visit Wppac.com or call (914) 328-1600.
