American soprano Lorna Dallas' "Glamorous Night," featuring the music of Jerome Kern and Ivor Novello, will play at the Firebird through March 17.
Familiar to musical theatre and cabaret audiences, Dallas starred in the London revival of Show Boat, as well as the musicals The King and I, Hello Dolly, and Side by Side by Sondheim. In addition to her work in Kismet, Closer Than Ever and Cole, Dallas has been a guest artist at concert halls around the world and has starred in such specials as "The Magic of Rodgers & Hammerstein,” “Cole Porter Centennial Gala” and “Night of 100 Stars.” In November 1999, she was featured with Cleo Laine in "Farewell 20th Century,” at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Her four PBS records include "A Tribute to Comden & Green" (with Betty Comden & Adolph Green), "The George Gershwin Centenary from the Royal Albert Hall," "The Ira Gershwin Special from the London Palladium," and her own show for the Brownsville Concert Series. In 1998, Dallas made her Carnegie Hall debut with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops.
