News "Love Boat" Bartender Turns NY Bard as His Lemon Meringue Façade Set for June Run Ted Lange, known for his turn as the bartender Isaac on TV's "The Love Boat," stars in the New York premiere of his latest play Lemon Meringue Façade.

The New Perspectives Theatre Company presents the work at its space in midtown Manhattan, June 12-28.

Set in California's Pasadena, Lemon Meringue Façade explores the lives and loves of four blondes in their late 30s as the best friends meet for a baby shower. The mother-to-be, a shy tennis instructor, a ruthless actress and a self sufficient feminist are joined in the occasion by an uptight mother, the self-involved father-to-be and a brash Hollywood actor.

Jackie Alexander directs Lange, who is featured in a cast that also includes Cheryl Lynn Bowers, Carrie Baker, Gunna Wilson, Melanie Boland and James Blanshard. The design team features Meganne George (production) and Amy Harper (lighting).

Lange, a graduate of London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, has penned seventeen plays including Behind the Mask–An Evening with Paul Laurence Dunbar, Four Queens – No Trump, Soul Survivor, Evil Legacy – The Story of Lucretia Borgia and Born a Unicorn. Also a director, Lange recently helmed a Los Angeles staging of the new musical Moon Shine! With Fred Willard and Jim J. Bullock. As an actor, he made his Broadway debut in the musical Hair and has also appeared regionally in Piano Lesson, Sunshine Boys, Biloxi Blues and the national tour of Driving Miss Daisy.
