Video Loy A. Webb on What to Expect From Off-Broadway Premiere of Her Play The Light The playwright, cast, and creative team open up about MCC's first production in its brand-new theatre.

On January 23, MCC Theater will officially open its doors to theatregoers for the first production in its new 52nd Street home—the Off-Broadway premiere of Loy A. Webb’s play The Light.

Unfolding in real time, the story introduces us to Rashad and Genesis on what should be one of the happiest days of their lives: a marriage proposal. Their joy quickly unravels, however, when ground-shifting accusations from the past resurface.

The Light is directed by Logan Vaughn and stars Drama Desk Award winner McKinley Belcher III (The Royale, The Art of Racing in The Rain) and Mandi Masden (Saint Joan, Jitney). Watch Webb, the cast, and creative team talk about the play in the video above.

The Light will play in the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater at The Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, located at 511 W. 52nd Street.
