News Lucy Thurber's Boxing Play to Take Place Inside Brooklyn Gym with Real Fighting Vertigo Theater's site-specific production of The Living Room Series: Barenuckle, an evening of short plays about boxing, will take place inside Gleason's Gym in Dumbo. All performances are set to open with fights amongst some of the top athletes in amateur boxing.

The production will feature world premieres by playwrights Lucy Thurber, Pia Scala-Zankel and Lindsay Joy, to be directed by Laura Savia. Performances will take place Feb. 20-22, 28 and March 1, 6-8.

The cast features Heidi Armbruster, Jadi Collado, Aaron Costa Ganis, Lovell Dunn, Kristen Harlow, Eden Marryshow, KK Moggie, Cassandra Paras, Jacob Perkins, Alexandra Renzo, Blake Shutterly, Eileen Sugameli, Tony Vo and Kara Young.

According to Vertigo Theater, Gleason's Gym is the oldest active boxing gym in the USA, opening its doors in 1937 and home to iconic boxing champions Jay LaMotta and Shane Mosley.

Vertigo Theater Company was founded in 2012 as a direct result of the Labyrinth Theater Company's educational workshops. The Living Room Series commissioned three female playwrights to create new works for a site-specific production.
