News Luft Rings in the New Year at the Plush Room; Hart, West, Maggart to Follow Lorna Luft, who has received much acclaim for her one-woman show Songs My Mother Taught Me, will begin a limited engagement at the Empire Plush Room in San Francisco Dec. 27.

Luft, the daughter of the late Judy Garland, will play the intimate cabaret Dec. 27-31 and Jan. 4-8. Her evenings will feature songs from Songs My Mother Taught Me as well as tunes from the Great American Songbook. The 10:30 PM show on New Year's Eve will include hors d'oeuvres, champagne and noise makers. The Empire Plush Room's winter schedule will also feature appearances by Kitty Carlisle Hart (Jan. 11-15), Jody Watley (Jan. 19-21), Paula West (Jan. 24-March 4), Maude Maggart (March 7-12) and comic Kate Clinton (March 16 19).

In addition to her work on concert stages throughout the world, Lorna Luft has also appeared in several stage musicals, including the Broadway production of Promises, Promises and the Off-Broadway mountings of Snoopy and Extremities. She starred as Rose in a regional production of Gypsy, and her national tour credits include They're Playing Our Song, Jerry Herman's Broadway Years and the aforementioned Songs My Mother Taught Me.
