Classic Arts News Lyric Opera Of Chicago Seeks Large, Threatening-Looking Male for Salome Lyric Opera of Chicago is seeking a big, muscular, threatening-looking man — at least six feet tall — to portray the executioner in the company's upcoming production of Richard Strauss's Salome, directed by Francesca Zambello and starring Deborah Voigt in the title role.
This supernumerary role requires no singing or speaking, but does require appearing shirtless onstage. The executioner will hold aloft the severed head of John the Baptist and then (upon orders from King Herod) strangle the title character and carry her body offstage.

Rehearsals begin immediately, with nine performances from October 21 through November 21. Potential applicants may call 1-312-827-3537 for more information.
