Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) directs the production that runs through May 25 at the Civic Opera House.

In addition to Zane (Chicago, "Titanic," "Memphis Belle"), the production stars Gambatese (Wicked, All Shook Up, Tarzan) as Maria, Hibbert ("The Nanny," The Drowsy Chaperone, Curtains) as Max Detweiler, Christine Brewer as Mother Abbess and Elizabeth Futral as Baroness Elsa Schraeder.

The cast also includes Betsy Farrar (Liesl), Brady Tutton (Friedrich), Julia Schweizer (Louisa), Michael Harp (Kurt), Isabelle Roberts (Brigitta), KyLee Hennes (Marta), Nicole Scimeca (Gretl), Zach Sorrow (Rolf), Cory Goodrich (Sister Margaretta), Susan Moniz (Sister Berthe), Erin Elizabeth Smith (Sister Sophia), Mary Ernster (Frau Schmidt), Dev Kennedy (Franz), Rob Hunt (Herr Zeller) and Michael Weber (Admiral von Schreiber).

The Sound of Music has choreography by Denis Jones, scenic design by Michael Yeargan, lighting design by Duane Schuler and costume design by Alejo Vietti. It is conducted by Rob Fisher.

The production also features 37 members of the Lyric Opera Orchestra, who perform with a 25-member choral ensemble. This company premiere is the second work in Lyric's American Musical Theater Initiative, which launched last season with a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!

The Sound of Music features a libretto by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse and a score by Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics) that includes "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Edelweiss," "Something Good" and "So Long, Farewell."
