Entitled Good Night Mr. Wilson, the evenings will feature scenes from such Wilson plays as The Piano Lesson and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. The production will also feature actress Bonita Brisker. Charles S. Dutton received a 1985 Tony Award nomination for his work in the original production of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom; his other nomination came for another Wilson play, The Piano Lesson. Perhaps best known for his TV series "Roc," Dutton's other screen credits include roles in "No Mercy," "A Low Down Dirty Shame," "Nick of Time," "Blind Faith" and "Black Dog."
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson died Oct. 3, 2005 of lung cancer. Mr. Wilson was 60. On Oct. 16 the Virginia Theatre was renamed the August Wilson Theatre in his honor. Among his many plays are Radio Golf, Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, The Piano Lesson, Seven Guitars, Fences, Two Trains Running, Jitney and King Hedley II.
