News Magpie, Musical About Bike Messengers, Gets NYC Readings Feb. 22-23 Amas Musical Theatre will present two readings of the new musical Magpie Feb. 22-23 as part of its Amas Six O'Clock Musical Theatre Lab in Manhattan.

Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj directs the show by Stephen M. Jacobsen (book), Edward Gallardo (lyrics) Gary William Friedman (music).

"An original musical with Latin overtones, Magpie is the story of two young, emotionally challenged lovers set in the world of bicycle messengers," according to Amas.

The reading cast will feature Mathew Alexander, Al Bundonis, Danielle Chambers, Jed Dickson, Lisa Ferraro, Jessica Fields, Lynette Marerro, Maxx, Keith Mahoney, Ronny Mercedes, and Eliseo Roman.

Edward Gallardo's credits include Selena Forever and Women Without Men, and Gary William Friedman wrote The Me Nobody Knows and Sheba.

The 6 PM performances are at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street in New York City (between 3rd Street and Bleecker Street, at Minetta Lane). For reservations, call (212) 563-2565.

The Amas Six O'Clock Musical Theatre Lab is Amas Musical Theatre's free development series for writers, lyricists and composers to mount staged readings of their new musicals.
