NY Musical Theatre Fest Make a Joyful Noise; White Noise Sells Out at NYMF, Adds Two Performances White Noise, billed as a “white teen pop supremacist musical,” has sold out its entire initial run at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.

Additional performances have been added on Sept. 19 at 1 PM and Sept. 29 at 11 PM. The full run will now play from Sept. 18 to 30 at Barrow Group Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street.

As previously reported, Libby Winters and Christina Calph have replaced Kacie Sheik and Whitney Bashor as the musical’s lead characters. Phillip Taratula has also joined the cast, who appeared in the Fringe Festival show The Deepest Play Ever, as the father of Winters and Calph’s characters.

Playing ruthless manager Rich will be Rick Crom (Urinetown, Footloose); naïve third band member Kurt will be played by Danny Calvert (Altar Boyz, Rent); and fourth band member (and skinhead) Duke will be played by newcomer Micah Shepard. Rick Crom is also the author of one of the songs featured in White Noise.

White Noise was conceived by director Ryan J. Davis and features book, music and lyrics by Joe Drymala, with additional songs by Ben Cohn & Sean McDaniel, Rick Crom (Drama Desk Nominee for Newsical), Glen Kelly (dance arranger of The Producers, Spamalot and The Drowsy Chaperone), Laurence O'Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde) Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (Edges) and Eric Svejcar (musical director of Jacques Brel...).

White Noise is billed as "A Cautionary Musical," and is inspired by the real-life teenage white supremacist pop/folk band Prussian Blue. It's described by the authors as follows: "An adorable pair of sisters, Blanche and Eva, lead the teen band White Noise, mixing irresistible harmonies with white power rhetoric and taking the nation by storm. Their message of racial purity resonates with young people across America and the rise of White Noise coincides with a rise in the white supremacist movement which threatens to engulf the country, as Blanche and Eva prove themselves to be masters of the most terrifying and unstoppable form of Fascism in today’s culture: Top Forty pop."
