News Maltby-Directed Mask Musical to World Premiere in Arizona The world premiere of the musical Mask, based on the 1985 Peter Bogdanovich film of the same name, will run Nov. 24-Dec. 15 in Tucson and Dec. 31-Jan. 20, 2008 in Phoenix as part of the Arizona Theatre Company's 2007-08 season.

Mask has a book by Anna Hamilton Phelan (screenwriter of the original film) and music and lyrics by the team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil (Smokey Joe's Cafe), with direction by Richard Maltby, Jr (director of Ain't Misbehavin', Baby, Fosse and Ring of Fire and lyrics and book for The Pirate Queen, among others).

The season will also include the world premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher’s play The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Other offerings will include To Kill a Mockingbird, adapted by Christopher Sergel from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee; George Gershwin Alone, with a book by Hershey Felder and music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, starring Felder; and The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl. A sixth play will be announced on April 2.
