Mamma Mia! star Karen Mason, also known to fans for her cabaret and concert gigs and stage work in And the World Goes 'Round and Sunset Boulevard, has a new recording in stores Nov. 27.
"When the Sun Comes Out," on the Jerome Records label, is an eclectic mix of pop songs and show tunes, ranging from Lennon and McCartney ("I'm Happy Just to Dance With You") to Kander and Ebb ("Maybe This Time") and ABBA ("I Have a Dream") and Carol King and Gerry Coffin ("Up On The Roof"). Paul Rolnick produces the disc, with John Jerome as executive producer.
Performing with a band, Mason also sings "Downtown"/"I Know a Place," "How Long Has This Been Going On?," "We Never Ran Out of Love (We Just Ran Out of Time)," "Taking a Chance on Love," "It Had To Be You," "When in Rome," "Shoot for the Moon," "Stormy Weather," "When the Sun Comes Out," "I Wanna Be Around," "I Promise You a Happy Ending"/"Hey, There Good Times."
Mason's recordings include "Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!," "Better Days" and "Not So Simply Broadway."
