Fans of Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters who had hoped to see the Sunday in the Park With George lovers reunited for a Kiss Me Kate revival will have to settle for two interesting -- though separate -- projects. Peters is getting set to play Sabina, the eternal temptress in Kander & Ebb's musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth, which is set for a June workshop in New York. If the workshop is a success, the show could have a public premiere in 1997.

Daily Variety reports that Patinkin, a Tony-winner as Che in Evita, and better known from stints on TV's Chicago Hope and solo albums and tours, will appear as Quasimodo in a live-action film version f The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Variety says that Alliance Pictures and the TNT cable network are going ahead with the film despite the June 21 opening of an animated Disney version of the story. Patinkin's Hunchback reportedly is scheduled to begin shooting in Prague and Budapest in July with Peter Medak (The Krays) directing.

Variety reports that the film is scheduled to be shown on TNT in early 1997, but may also be shown in movie theatres. Richard Harris, who has played King Arthur in Camelot on Broadway, will play Frollo.
