Directed by Annette Jolles with choreography by Regina Larkin, Manhattan Madcaps will play the Leonard Nimoy Thalia July 6-22. No casting has been announced. "Boy meets Girl. Boys loses Girl," reads production notes for Manhattan Madcaps, "[and] Boy gets Girl and a Manhattan apartment in this romantic romp through the Big Apple, as four couples seek happiness (and a place to live) in the Big City of 1924." Among the Rodgers and Hart songs that will be featured in the production are "City," "Gotta Get Back to New York," "Where the Hudson River Flows," "Way Out West," "Any Old Place with You," "At the Roxy Music Hall," "He Was Too Good to Me," "Give it Back to the Indians" and "Manhattan."
About the new series, Symphony Space Artistic Director Isaiah Sheffer said in a statement, "New York City is the culture capital of the country, but up until now, a theatre-lover had to travel outside of the Big Apple to find a real, 'let's-put-on-a-show' summer stock production. 'Summer Stock on Broadway' will capture the best of summer stock, right here in New York, New York — and on Broadway to boot."
Manhattan Madcaps of 1924 will play Wednesday-Saturday evenings at 8 PM and Sundays at 3 PM. An additional performance will be held July 11 at 8 PM. Tickets, priced $19, are available by calling (212) 864-5400. Visit www.symphonyspace.org for more information.
