The Old Globe's world premiere of the new Ken Ludwig comedy, Robin Hood!, begins previews July 22 prior to an official opening July 30 at the San Diego venue.

Directed by Jessica Stone, performances will continue through September 3 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

Robin Hood is played by Daniel Reece with Michael Boatman as Prince John, Kevin Cahoon (The Wedding Singer) as The Sheriff of Nottingham, Manoel Felciano (Amélie) as Sir Guy of Gisbourne, Meredith Garretson as Maid Marian, Andy Grotelueschen as Friar Tuck, Suzelle Palacios as Doerwynn, and Paul Whitty (Amélie) as Little John.

Robin Hood! tells the timeless story of a hero of the people who takes on the powers that be. “So get ready to duck a quarterstaff or two—you won’t want to miss a moment of the swashbuckling fun!” says the Old Globe.

The creative team also includes scenic designer Tim Mackabee, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Jason Lyons, sound designer Fitz Patton, fight director Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum, and vocal coach David Huber with casting by Caparelliotis Casting. Jess Slocum is the production stage manager, and Peter Van Dyke is the stage manager.

“Ken Ludwig is fast becoming a part of the Old Globe family, and we couldn’t be happier,” said Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein in an earlier statement. “Ken is arguably the leading comic dramatist in the American theatre, and with Robin Hood! he has fashioned an extraordinary new take on the legend.”

Tickets can be purchased online at, by phone at (619) 234-5623, or by visiting the Box Office at 1363 Old Globe Way in Balboa Park.
