A developmental presentation was part of DCTC's 2012 Colorado New Play Summit. The full production will run April 5-May 26 in The Stage Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

According to the Tony Award-honored regional theatre in Colorado, "In this grand musical adaptation of Jane Austen's enthralling novel, we are drawn into the tempestuous world of the Dashwood sisters. Opposites in temperament, but equally determined to find love and happiness in spite of their desperate financial circumstances, sisters Elinor and Marianne struggle with betrayal, soaring emotions, dashed hopes and their own conflicting notions of ideal love. But while one follows her heart and the other her head, each triumphs romantically by remaining true to who they are."

Sense & Sensibility has book and lyrics by Jeffrey Haddow (Scrambled Feet, Chekhov in Yalta), winner of the BMI Harrington Award for Creative Achievement. Music is by Neal Hampton.

Casting will be announced later. A 2011 developmental presentation of the show in New York City featured featured Christiane Noll and Brandi Burkhardt as the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne.

DCTC artistic director Kent Thompson said in a statement, "Not only will Jane Austen lovers be thrilled but everyone is in for a real treat because we don't often get the opportunity to produce a really large scale musical like this. The score is lush and lyrical." Daniel L. Ritchie, chairman/CEO of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA), said in a statement, "This production will be a very important milestone in the already proud history of this theatre company. With the help of our many sponsors, patrons and friends, the DCPA is prepared to commit significant additional resources to insure that this production is second to none."

Sense & Sensibility is presented by special arrangement with Betty Ann Besch Solinger and Alice Chebba Walsh. It is part of The Denver Center Theatre Company and Denver Center Attractions (DCA) seasons.

Subscribers get first crack at tickets. Single tickets go on sale to the general public at a later date.
