News   Margulies May Pen "Middlesex" Series for HBO
HBO has optioned a screen adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides' Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "Middlesex."

Variety reports that the proposed series would be adapted by fellow Pulitzer Prize-winner Donald Margulies (Dinner with Friends, Collected Stories, Shipwrecked), who would also executive produce with actress Rita Wilson ("My Life in Ruins," "Sleepless in Seattle"). Jeffrey Eugenides' 2007 novel traces the life and family history of 41-year-old Cal Stephanides, a hermaphrodite raised as Calliope and later "reborn" as Cal during his teenage years.
