News Margulies' Shipwrecked Officially Opens at Long Wharf Feb. 20 Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked! An Entertainment – The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont (As Told by Himself) officially opens at the Long Wharf Theatre Feb. 20; previews began Feb. 13.

Michael Countryman (Night Must Fall) stars in the title role with a cast featuring Angela Lin (Coram Boy,) and Jeff Biehl (Misanthrope). Evan Cabnet directs the work scheduled to play Long Wharf's Stage II through March 16.

Shipwrecked!, according to Long Wharf production notes, follows "an old man named Louis De Rougemont [who] finds that stardom is a fleeting thing. Gaining notoriety at the turn of the century for his fantastic tale of being shipwrecked, living on a remote island with his beautiful islander wife and learning to ride sea turtles, De Rougemont recalls his adventures wistfully even while his audience becomes increasingly more skeptical."

Commissioned by South Coast Repertory, the work made its world premiere there in September 2007 with Gregory Itzin (of television's "24") in the lead role.

The design team for Shipwrecked! features Lee Savage (set), Jessica Wegener (costumes), Tyler Micholeau (lighting) and Drew Levy (sound). Bonnie Brady serves as stage manager.

Margulies' works include Brooklyn Boy, Sight Unseen, the 2000 Pulitzer Prize winner Dinner with Friends as well as Two Days, God of Vengeance, The Model Apartment, The Loman Family Picnic, Found a Peanut, Luna Park and What's Wrong With This Picture? Tickets to Shipwrecked! at Long Wharf Theatre, 222 Sargent Drive in New Haven, CT, are available by calling (203) 787-4282 or online at longwharf.org.
