"On Broadway, Men Still Hats," by Robert Simonson, is a collection of 18 offbeat profiles of Times Square characters who make their living in the New York theatre, but not on the stage. Among those depicted are controversial New York Post columnist Michael Riedel; influential entertainment lawyer John Breglio, whose clients included Bernadette Peters and Stephen Sondheim; ubiquitous Broadway photographer and party habitue Aubrey Reuben; Glasgow-born restauranteur Angus McIndoe, who owns and run own of the best-frequented watering holes in the theatre district; Nathan Lane's dresser, Kenneth Brown; tireless prop-locating "merchandising" man George Fenmore; internet reviewer and independent play publisher Martin Denton; Arnold and Mark Rubin, who sell hats to nearly every Broadway musical's costume designer; and legendary nonagenarian independent agent Robby Lantz. Also profiled is the owner of the Drama Book Shop, Rozanne Seelen. An introduction is provided by Marian Seldes.
