Mazzie and Danieley succeed Tony winner Alice Ripley and Brian d'Arcy James, respectively, as Diana and Dan Goodman. Ripley and d'Arcy James offered their final performances July 18. Normal marks the first time that Danieley and Mazzie have shared a Broadway stage.

Ripley departed the production to head the company of the national tour, which begins in November, while d'Arcy James will return to his role in the Tony-nominated Time Stands Still when it reopens on Broadway in October.

Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano also played her final performance July 18. Understudy Meghann Fahy assumes the role of Natalie. Next to Normal also features Kyle Dean Massey, Adam Chanler-Berat and Louis Hobson.

Mazzie, recently on Broadway in Enron, is a three-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in Kiss Me, Kate; Ragtime; and Passion. Her other theatrical credits include Into the Woods, Big River, The World Goes 'Round, the City Center Encores! productions of Kismet and Out of this World and Off-Broadway's The Trojan Women: A love Story, where she met husband Jason Danieley. Mazzie also starred in the London production of Kiss Me, Kate, where she earned an Olivier Award nomination for her work. She was also seen in the Actors' Fund of America's concert staging of On the Twentieth Century, and she recently completed runs in both the New York and London companies of Spamalot.

Jason Danieley, acclaimed for his performance in Broadway's Curtains, played Dr. Rey in the Signature Theatre's production of The Highest Yellow. He starred on Broadway as Malcolm MacGregor in The Full Monty, a role he repeated in London. For his Broadway debut in Candide, Danieley received a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk nomination. His other theatrical credits include the City Center Encores! production of Strike Up the Band as well as Off-Broadway runs in Dream True and Floyd Collins. Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book/lyrics) penned Next to Normal, which puts a woman's struggle with bi-polar disorder and depression center stage. Next to Normal also explores the raw emotion of a family in crisis.

The writers earned the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2009 Tony Award for Best Score. Kitt was also Tony-honored for Best Orchestrations. Alice Ripley earned a Best Actress Tony Award for her portrayal of Diana Goodman.

Next to Normal arrived on Broadway in March 2009 following an Off-Broadway run at Second Stage and a regional engagement at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.
