Winokur hasn't been part of the New York production since Aug. 10, 2003, when she left the show after a year-long stay. She later took part in the L.A. debut of the musical. Recently, she showed up as a cast member on the new Pamela Anderson sitcom "Stacked."

The breakthrough performance as portly Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad got Winokur noticed on both coasts. She won the 2003 Tony for Best Actress in a Musical, besting veteran Bernadette Peters and others in the category.

Bruce Vilanch currently plays Tracy's mother, Edna Turnblad.

Hairspray opened on Broadway on Aug. 15, 2002. It won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score (Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), Best Book (Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan), Best Actor in a Musical (Harvey Fierstein), Best Featured Actor in a Musical (Dick Latessa), Best Direction of a Musical (Jack O'Brien) and Best Costume Design (William Ivey Long).

Performances play the Neil Simon Theatre.
