News Mark Waldrop-Helmed Cut Throat Begins Tonight at Abingdon Theatre Company Abingdon Theatre Company presents the world premiere of JB Reich's Cut Throat, beginning performances Oct. 2, helmed by Mark Waldrop.

The cast of Cut Throat features Eric Bryant, Susan Cella, Adam Lebow, Allen Lewis Rickman, Srah Sirota and Melissa Teitel. The story follows New York couple Amy and Ben, who are happily married until they decide to send their three-year-old boy to preschool. The play examines the meaning of parenthood, children, marriage and the politics of inner-city private school admissions.  Performances run through Oct. 25. 

Founded in 1993, the Off-Broadway company has a long history of producing new works. The 23rd season will also include world premieres by Charles Messina, titled A Room of My Own, and Ken Levine's Married By Midnight. Details below:

In A Room of My Own, Charles Messina recounts his adolescence growing up in a Greenwich Village studio apartment with his eccentric Italian-American family. This semi-autobiographical adult comedy takes a hilarious and heartfelt look at NYC in the late-1970s.

Written by Levine; directed by Stuart Ross 
At 5 PM on Aug. 26, 1965, President Johnson declares that only men Married by Midnight would still be eligible for draft deferment. It's a rush to the altar for six young men and their prospective brides, as the guys try to avoid going to Vietnam.
