Marla Schaffel, 2001 Tony nominee for Jane Eyre, and Some Like It Hot are among the nominees for Dallas' Leon Rabin Awards, given out Nov. 4 at the Eisemann Center Theatre.

Schaffel is nominated for her role as Eliza Doolittle in Dallas Summer Musicals' My Fair Lady, while the traveling Some Like It Hot, which originated at Dallas Summer Musicals, got the nod for Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Musical, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Musical Direction, Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role — Musical (Timothy Gulan, who plays the cross-dressing bass player Jerry), Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role — Musical (Lenora Nemetz, who plays bandleader Sweet Sue) and Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role — Musical (William Ryall, who plays the gangster Spats).

Some Like It Hot will compete with Always...Patsy Cline, Blues in the Night, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd and Abyssinia for Outstanding Musical. In the play category, Some Explicit Polaroids and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will fight in an unusual battle against Dallas Children's Theater's Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse as well as the kids company's more serious-minded fare Deadly Weapons and And Then They Came for Me.

The Leon Rabin Awards will also honor Adrian Hall of with the Career Achievement Award, TACA with the Silver Ticket Award for support of Dallas theatre and Robyn Flatt, co-founder and artistic director of Dallas Children's Theatre, with the Standing Ovation Award.
