News Marti Pellow Joins West End Company of Chicago

The West End production of Chicago continues to pull in the crowds, thanks largely to the musical's intrinsic strengths — music (John Kander), lyrics (Fred Ebb) and choreography (Ann Reinking, in the style of Bob Fosse) — but, in part, to a judicious casting policy that sees fresh talent injected into the show at regular intervals.

As of June 10, the role of Billy Flynn, the charming, scheming lawyer who is out to save murderess Roxie Hart (played by Anita Lousie Combe) from the hangman, will be be played by "Wet Wet Wet" pop star Marti Pellow.

Co-starring as Roxie's put-upon husband is Clive Rowe, while Anna Jane Casey plays Roxie's rival (and Billy Flynn's other major client) Velma Kelly.

Chicago has been at the Adelphi Theatre since November 1997.
