News Mary Stuart Masterson, Anthony Rapp and Laila Robins Read The Scottish Play in NYC, Oct. 4 Mary Stuart Masterson, Anthony Rapp and Laila Robins will appear in a benefit reading of Lee Blessing's new comedy, The Scottish Play, Oct. 4.

Part of the Red Bull Theatre's "Revelations Reading" series, Jesse Berger directs the 7 PM reading at The Culture Project @ 45 Bleecker.

Masterson (Nine), Rapp (Rent) and Robins (Frozen) are joined in the ensemble by Boris McGiver, Gerry Bamman, Lynn Collins, Henry Strozier, Haynes Thigpen, Jesse Shane Bronstein, Howard L. Blau and Julie Jesneck.

  The new Artistic Director of Michigan's Northernmost Shakespeare Festival attempts to complete the Bard's canon with the cursed Shakespeare tragedy in The Scottish Play. The fearless director, who defies the Macbeth hex, soon befalls the infamous curse as fires, floods, frogs, mysterious illness and injury, a hunky Hollywood half-wit and ex-wives rain down upon the back woods production.

Blessing's new works can currently be seen at La Jolla Playhouse through Oct. 23. His other plays include A Walk in the Woods, Two Rooms, Down the Road, Going to St. Ives, Patient A, Thief River, Eleemosynary, Cobb, Whores, Black Sheep and Chesapeake.
