Celia Keenan-Bolger and Mary Testa star in the Working benefit concert.

Gordon Greenberg (Jacques Brel..., Pirates of Penzance) directs the presentation of Working at the Zipper Theatre at 8 PM. Steve Marzullo serves as the music director. Testa (42nd Street and On the Town), Keenan-Bolger (Les Misérables, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) and Jeb Brown (Ring of Fire, High Fidelity) appear in the six-member cast that also includes Merle Dandridge (Tarzan), Ed Dixon (Les Misérables) and Roderick Hill (Butley). (Will Chase had previously been announced to star, but had to withdraw due to scheduling conflicts.)

The Zipper Theatre, Ryan Hill and John Johnson present the newly adapted concert version of the 1978 musical based on the Studs Terkel book about the multi-faceted American work force.

Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) adapted the book for Working from the Terkel non-fiction work of the same name. The musical features songs by Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead and James Taylor. The new concert version is adapted from the original by Greenberg.

The director will offer a Brechtian-style take on the musical. "I've always been a great fan of this show and wondered how we might expose the workings of the show itself — by featuring things like stage manager calls and the backstage crew doing their jobs — and by watching fewer actors play more characters," stated Greenberg. "Ultimately though, it's amazingly authentic and human."

The design team for Working includes Jeff Croiter and Jeff Carnevale (lighting) and Peter Fitzgerald (sound).

Tickets ($55 and $30) are available through (212) 352-3101 or toll-free at (866) 811-4111. For more information visit actorsfund.org.
