Mary Tyler Moore will turn Pittsburgh on with her smile in a benefit for Pittsburgh Public Theater on May 28.

TV, film and stage star Moore will present her one-woman reminiscence, After All...An Evening With Mary Tyler Moore, at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts in downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets, ranging $15-$80, are still on sale.

The evening includes Moore ("The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Ordinary People") musing about her career and taking questions from the audience.

"Best seats" tickets, which include pre-show cocktails and hors doeuvres and a private post-show reception with Moore, are sold out.

Moore, of course, was considered the classic modern American woman roughly 1960-1980, first playing Laura Petrie, the 1960s housewife on TV's "The Dick Van Dyke Show," and then as single, thirtysomething working-woman Mary Richards on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Her stage roles have included Holly Golightly in the failed musical, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and also the hospitalized quadriplegic in Broadway's Whose Life Is It Anyway? She was awarded a Special Tony for appearing that season.

She also appeared in the films "Ordinary People" and the TV movie, "First You Cry."

Moore's visit is sponsored by Mellon Bank, allowing Pittsburgh Public Theater to reap maximum benefit from the event. The non-profit LORT theatre is looking ahead to its 1999-2000 season, when it will move into a newly constructed theatre in downtown Pittsburgh.
