News "Match Game" Favorite Returns to Danny's With Hit Cabaret Show Brett Somers, one of the favorite regular panelists from TV's old "Match Game" game show, scored a success this past summer in her New York City cabaret debut. She now returns for an encore engagement at Danny's Skylight Room on Restaurant Row.

Somers, who was the top-row center panelist on CBS-TV's long-running "Match Game" program, will offer An Evening With Brett Somers Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and 10, and Dec. 9 at 9:15 PM and Dec. 2, 23 and 30 at 7 PM. The evenings are described as "a musical memoir of a life in and out of show business — the act contains hilarious and poignant moments of romance, marriage, career and, of course, 'Match Game.'" Somers co-wrote the program with Mark Cherry, her musical director and arranger. Among the songs Somers interprets are "Most Gentlemen Don't Like Love," "I Get Along Without You Very Well," "It Never Entered My Mind" and "I'm Beginning to See the Light."

About her cabaret debut in July, Somers told Playbill On-Line, "It never occurred to me in a million years that I'd be doing a cabaret show. I was standing backstage [at Danny's], and I thought, 'You're an older person. You should be lying down somewhere in a nice cool bed watching TV!' And I went out there, and I just had a great time. . . . Oh, you'll never get an audience like that as long as you live! They were fabulous! You couldn't make a wrong move. They were the best audience I've ever had in my whole life — they clapped, they laughed, they hooted. It was really just marvelous."

Best known for her "Match Game" appearances as well as her stint as Mrs. Oscar Madison on TV's "The Odd Couple," Brett Somers has also appeared in the films "Getting There," "The Great American Beauty Pageant," "Bus Riley's Back in Town" and "A Rage to Live." Her stage credits include Maybe Tuesday, Happy Ending, Mine Prince Mine King, Night Fishing in Beverly Hills, The Country Girl and a tour of Seven Year Itch with Art Carney and Lee Remick.

"Match Game" is popular again due to its exposure on The Game Show Network.

Danny's Skylight Room is located in Manhattan at 346 West 46th Street. Reservations may be made by calling (212) 265-8133. There is a $20 music charge and a $10 food-drink minimum.
