Before the set began, Morrison addressed Monteith’s unexpected death. Calling Monteith a brother, Morrison expressed his sadness and condolences and sang "What I Did For Love," from the musical A Chorus Line, a cappella. The song had been featured on Season Two of "Glee."
Morrison said it was "awkward" to perform, given Monteith's death, but, he added, "You guys came to see a show, I came to perform a show, so that’s what we'll do. And we’ll do it in Cory's honor." He then performed a lineup of showtunes and old-fashioned classic numbers from his recently released CD, "Where It All Began."
Cory Monteith was found dead July 13 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. He had checked into the hotel July 6 and was expected to check out July 13. When Monteith missed his checkout time at noon, hotel staff went to his room and discovered his body.
