Film & TV News Matthew Morrison Leaves Judging Panel of So You Think You Can Dance

Morrison leaves only nine days into the competition shows seventeenth season.

Matthew Morrison has left the judging panel of So You Think You Can Dance following a minor infraction of competition production protocols. Morrison had been with the competition show for only nine days. News of the departure was released by US Weekly, alongside the following statement from Morrison.

“Having the opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance was an incredible honor for me. Therefore, it is my deepest regret to inform you that I will be leaving the show. After filming the audition rounds for the show and completing the selection of the 12 finalists, I did not follow competition production protocols, preventing me from being able to judge the competition fairly. I cannot apologize enough to all involved and I will be watching alongside you all on what I know will be one of the best seasons yet.”

When Playbill recently spoke with Morrison, he shared that he was a long term fan of the program. Details on the infraction, and who will replace Morrison on the judging panel, have not been released.

So You Think You Can Dance season 17 airs on FOX Wednesdays at 9 PM.
