Matthew Perry to Star in London World Premiere of His Playwriting Debut, The End of Longing | Playbill

News Matthew Perry to Star in London World Premiere of His Playwriting Debut, The End of Longing Matthew Perry, the television star who is best known for "Friends" and "The Odd Couple" and who previously appeared in the West End in 2003 in David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago, is to return to London to star in the world premiere of The End of Longing, which also marks his own playwriting debut.

It will begin performances at the Playhouse Theatre Feb. 2, 2016, prior to a gala opening Feb. 11, for a run through May 14. Described as a bittersweet comic new play, it will be directed by Lindsay Posner, who also directed Perry in Sexual Perversity in Chicago at the Comedy Theatre.

The play revolves around Jack, Stephanie, Joseph and Stevie, four lost souls, entering their forties and searching for meaning. After sharing one raucous night together in a downtown Los Angeles bar, their lives become irreversibly entwined in a rollercoaster journey that forces them to confront the darker sides of their relationships.

In a press statement, Perry commented, "Being on stage makes you feel naked. Being on stage in a play that I have written will make me feel doubly naked. So if you'd like to see me doubly naked, tickets go on sale today."

Perry is best known for playing Chandler Bing in TV's "Friends," which ran from 1994 to 2004, and is currently the star and executive producer on CBS' "The Odd Couple," whose second season will premiere in 2016. He has also starred in and co-executive produced "Go On" and twice guest-starred in "The Good Wife."

Posner, a former associate director of the Royal Court, has numerous West End credits, amongst them Hay Fever and Relatively Speaking (which both transferred from Bath's Theatre Royal to the Duke of York's and Wyndham's, respectively), Speed-the-Plow (with Lindsay Lohan, at the Playhouse), the British premiere of Other Desert Cities (Old Vic), The Winslow Boy (also at the Old Vic, and subsequently at New York's Roundabout Theatre Company) and Noises Off (Old Vic, West End and U.K. tour). The End of Longing is produced by Howard Panter and Adam Speers, for the Ambassador Theatre Group.

Further casting is still to be announced. To book tickets, contact the box office on 0844 871 7631 or visit www.EndofLonging.co.uk.
