Martin Sherman’s Rose will play the West End's Ambassadors Theatre this spring. Transferring after sold-out runs at Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre and London's Park Theatre, Rose will run May 23-June 18.
Olivier winner Maureen Lipman (Messiah, Wonderful Town) will reprise the role of Rose, a woman who takes a turbulent journey from Nazi-occupied Europe to America. She tells "the story of a century where everything changed except the violence of the strong against the weak."
Scott Le Crass will direct the production, which will also feature design by David Shields, musical composition and sound design by Julian Star, and lighting design by Jane Lalljee.
Sherman's play was originally produced at the National Theatre in 1999 and Broadway's Lyceum Theatre in 2000. His other works include Bent, Messiah, A Madhouse In Goa, When She Danced, Gently Down the Stream, and The Boy From Oz.
