The Other Place began previews Off-Broadway March 11 and officially opened March 28 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Performances were originally scheduled through April 24.
Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Other Desert Cities, Take Me Out) directs a cast including Metcalf (November, A Lie of the Mind), Dennis Boutsikaris (Brighton Beach Memoirs), Aya Cash (Offices) and John Schiappa (Women on the Verge, Assassins).
Here's how MCC bills the premiere: "Just as Juliana Smithton's (Metcalf) research leads to a potential breakthrough in neurological medicine, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a lecture to colleagues at an exclusive beach resort, she glimpses anenigmatic young woman in a yellow bikini amidst the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unravels as contradictory evidence, blurredtruth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod."
The Other Place has scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Dane Laffrey, lighting design by Justin Townsend, projection design by William Cusick and original music and sound design by Fitz Patton.
White's plays include Sunlight, Six Years, Iris Fields, Satellites of the Sun and The Escape Velocity of Savages. Read Playbill magazine's recent feature about director Joe Mantello.
