Heading the cast of the Gershwin musical will be Jeffry Denman as Bobby, Beverly Ward as Polly, Angie Schworer as Irene, Marc Donovan as Bella and Rue McClanahan as Mother. Directed and choreographed by Kirby Ward, "the New Gershwin Musical Comedy," will play the Maine venue July 3-14. The production will feature the Broadway sets (Robin Wagner designed the New York production) and William Ivey Long's Tony Award-winning costumes.

Bradford Kenney, executive artistic director of the Playhouse, said in a statement, "The stage is now set for a spectacular production of this glorious Tony-Award winning Gershwin musical. Who could ask for anything more in what is truly any theatre's dream cast for Crazy for You? We have one of the nation's greatest song and dance men in Jeffry Denman, Beverly Ward is known on stages around the world as the consummate Polly, one of Broadway's most glamorous and sexy vixens in Angie Schworer, and who better to play the Society Mother than Emmy-Award winner Rue McClanahan?"

Crazy for You features a book by Ken Ludwig and songs by George and Ira Gershwin, including such classics as "Embraceable You," "I Got Rhythm" and "Someone to Watch Over Me." The musical — directed by Mike Ockrent — played the Shubert Theatre January 1992-January 1996. Harry Groener and Jodi Benson headed the original Broadway cast. The musical won three 1992 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Show times are Tuesdays-Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 8:30 PM with matinees Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2 PM.

Tickets, priced $39-$48, are available by calling (207) 646-5511 or by visiting www.ogunquitplayhouse.org.
