The second of a two-part tribute to composer Richard Rodgers will be broadcast on WNET/Thirteen on Aug. 1.

Part of the Boston Pops Orchestra's acclaimed "Evening at Pops" series, the hour-long program will include performances from such Broadway personalities as Audra McDonald, Rebecca Luker, Mary Testa, Lillias White, Douglas Sills and Ron Raines as well as the world premiere of new choreography to On Your Toes' "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" by Mark Morris and the Mark Morris Dance Group. The work was originally choreographed by the late George Balanchine. Keith Lockhart conducts.

During his lifetime, Richard Rodgers penned over 900 songs. His partnerships with Lorenz Hart and later with Oscar Hammerstein II produced some of the most successful musicals in Broadway history. His works with Hart included On Your Toes, Babes in Arms, I Married an Angel, The Boys from Syracuse, Pal Joey and By Jupiter, and the Rodgers-Hammerstein collaboration spawned Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, Flower Drum Song and The Sound of Music. The hit revival of Oklahoma! currently plays Broadway's Gershwin Theatre, and Flower Drum Song returns to The Great White Way this fall. "Evening at Pops" will air in the New York area on WNET/Thirteen at 8 PM. Check local listings.
