News McDonald, Ruiz and Brown to Star in Man of La Mancha at the Engeman David McDonald, Carey Brown and Richard Ruiz will play the central trio in the Engeman Theatre production of Man of La Mancha, which begins June 26.

McDonald – who has appeared in the Broadway companies of Side Show, Les Misérables and Mamma Mia! and the Casa Mañana staging of La Mancha – returns to the title role for the Engeman production, which will continue through Aug. 3. An opening night has been set for June 28.

Joining McDonald in the musical's adventurous trio are Ruiz (Two Gentlemen of Verona) as his trusted sidekick Sancho and Brown (Candide) as the object of Quixote's affection, Aldonza.

The cast of La Mancha will also feature Erick Devine (Captain/Padre), Kenneth Cavett (Governor/Innkeeper), Rob Gallagher, Denise Estrada (Antonia), Margarita Martinez (Maria/Housekeeper), Mario Martinez (Tenorio), Alex Michaels (Jose), Dante Sciarra (Pedro), Nandita Shenoy (Fermina), Jason Veasey (Anselmo) and David Villela (Juan/Barber).

Based on the Miguel de Cervantes novel, Man of La Mancha features music by Mitch Leigh, lyrics by Joe Darion and book by Dale Wasserman. The popular musical following the lofty escapades of Don Quixote and his pal Sancho includes the songs "Dulcinea," "The Impossible Dream," "What Does He Want of Me," "I'm Only Thinking of Him" and "To Each His Dulcinea."

Peter Flynn directs La Mancha, which will have choreography by Devanand Janki (Zanna, Don't! Side Show) and musical direction by Donny Jones. The creative team also includes Michael Bottari and Ronald Case (set and costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Scott Stauffer (sound design) and Mark Adam Rampmeyer (hair and wig design).
