While he was away from the Majestic Theater, Gary Mauer, a former Raoul in the Andrew Lloyd Webber smash, played the title character (since April 30).

McGillin has played the title role on Broadway more than any other performer — over 1,800 times. He has also appeared in Broadway's Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Anything Goes with Patti LuPone.

The Harold Prince production of The Phantom of the Opera features Jennifer Hope Wills as Christine, Michael Shawn Lewis as Raoul, George Lee Andrews (Monsieur Andre), David Cryer (Monsieur Firmin), Julie Schmidt (Carlotta), Marilyn Caskey (Madame Giry), Roland Rusinek (Piangi) and Heather McFadden (Meg Giry). At certain performances, Susan Owen plays Christine. George Lee Andrews has been with the production for its entire run.
