Jeremy B. Cohen directs the new adaptation of Mark Twain's American classic that runs through May 9. The production is part of a series of events in Hartford that celebrates the centennial of Twain's death, the 175th anniversary of his birth, and the 125th anniversary of the publication of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."
The cast features Tim McKiernan (Tom Sawyer), Casey Predovic (Huckleberry Finn), Louisa Krause (Becky Thatcher), Nancy Lemenager (Aunt Polly), Tedd Canez (Injun Joe), Joe Paulik (Joe Harper), Chris Bowyer (Sid Sawyer), Muff Potter (Erik Lochtefeld), Sarah Killough and Cody Ryan.
Tom Sawyer, according to Hartford, "chronicles the adventures of Twain’s mischievous young hero in a small town on the Mississippi River. Twain’s brilliant sense of humor and keen insights into human nature make him one of America’s most beloved writers."
The Hartford engagement has scenic design by Daniel Ostling, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Robert Wierzel and original music and sound design by Broken Chord Collective (Daniel Baker, Mark Dancigers and Aaron Meicht).
The production was developed as part of Hartford's 2009 Brand:NEW fall festival. The Hartford sponsors the production. Hartford Stage is located at 50 Church Street in downtown Hartford, CT. For more information visit www.hartfordstage.org.
