News   McPherson's Dublin Carol—with Nobbs, Norton & O'Malley—Opens Feb. 20
Conor McPherson is doing double-duty — as playwright and director — for Dublin Carol, which officially opens at the Atlantic Theater Company Feb. 20.

The play, which previously played London's Royal Court, began previews at the Atlantic Feb. 4. The limited engagement plays through March 30. Jim Norton, Keith Nobbs and Kerry O'Malley head the three-person cast as, respectively, John, Mark and Mary.

O'Malley spent 2002 as the Baker's Wife in the Tony-winning Broadway revival of Into the Woods. Nobbs was recently seen at Manhattan Theatre Club in Christopher Shinn's Four; he got his first break in WPA's Stupid Kids. Jim Norton is a McPherson veteran, having starred in Broadway's The Weir.

The 90-minute, intermissionless play is a three-character drama about an aging funeral director, his young protégé and his estranged daughter. The creative team for the production — presented by special arrangement with David Richenthal — comprises Walt Spangler (sets), Kaye Voyce (costumes), Tyler Micoleau (lighting) and Scott Myers (sound).

Other McPherson plays to reach New York include St. Nicholas and This Lime Tree Bower, both at Primary Stages; The Good Thief, presented by the Keen Company; and The Weir, on Broadway.

So far this season, the Atlantic has presented George S. Kaufman's Butter and Egg Man and Joe Penhall's Blue/Orange. Next up for the theatre company is Woody Allen's Writer's Block, which begins previews April 23. The Atlantic Theater Company is located in Manhattan at 336 West 20th Street. Tickets to Dublin Carol are available by calling Telecharge at (212) 239-6200.
