Janet McTeer, star of the lavishly-praised Broadway revival of A Doll's House, missed two performances due to illness, but was expected to return to the production April 16, according to company manager Eric Muratalla.
The British actress has had to sit out the April 14 and 15 shows. In the interim, understudy Rose Stockwood played the lead role in Henrik Ibsen's drama.
McTeer has garnered virtually unanimous raves on both sides of the Atlantic for her portrayal of Nora Helmer, winning both the Olivier and London Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress. The three-hour production, directed by Anthony Page, is considered taxing enough for the actress that the usual eight-performance-a-week schedule has been shortened to seven shows for the current Broadway incarnation.
The limited run engagement continues through July 27.
