Ghostlight Records will release Tony Award nominee Melissa Errico's new jazz-inflected recording of Oscar-winning composer Michel Legrand’s song “Hurry Home,” as a single on December 8.
“Hurry Home” tells of love in a long marriage. With lyrics by Marilyn and Alan Bergman, the song was originally sung by Errico under the credits of the 2013 film Max Rose. This new intimate, jazz-inflected acoustic setting on the single uses a small band arranged by producer Rob Mathes, and featuring guitarist and frequent Errico sideman Ben Butler.
Legrand (composer of film scores to films Yentl, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Thomas Crown Affair) first collaborated with Errico when she stared in his Broadway musical, Amour. Errico earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for her performance in that show. She then recorded an album of Legrand’s music, Legrand Affair, backed by the composer conducting his own orchestral arrangements with the Brussels Philharmonic.
Errico is scheduled to begin a three-performance cabaret show at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City on November 17.
Melissa Errico has been a special guest performer on Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises. Tickets are now on sale for Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas July 2018 cruise to Iceland, accompanied by Judy Kuhn, Christine Ebersole, Rob McClure, Jarrod Spector, Carmen Cusack, and Sierra Boggess.
