News Memorial for Armando Perez Sponsored by CHARAS/El Bohio, April 27 The controversial and beleaguered CHARAS/El Bohio center, founded by the slain arts and community activist Armando Perez, is holding a memorial for Perez on Tuesday, April 27, 6-8 PM.

The controversial and beleaguered CHARAS/El Bohio center, founded by the slain arts and community activist Armando Perez, is holding a memorial for Perez on Tuesday, April 27, 6-8 PM. Organized by the Justice for Armando Committee, friends and family of the former community and grassroots arts activist are inviting the public to attend.

Perez founded the CHARAS center more than 20 years ago and was slain last year. His murder remains unsolved. Perez was a controversial figure who opposed the city sale of the property housing CHARAS.

The memorial will be held in the Chapel of the Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Church at 602 East 9th Street at Ave. B. For information call (212) 982-9446.
