Slain arts and community activist Armando Perez, founder of the controversial and beleaguered CHARAS/El Bohio center will be memorialized April 27, from 6-8 PM on the Lower East Side. The Justice for Armando Committee, comprising friends and family of the late grassroots arts activist is organizing the event and is inviting the public to attend.

Perez founded the CHARAS center more than 20 years ago and was slain last year. His murder remains unsolved. Perez was a controversial figure who opposed the city sale of the city-owned property housing CHARAS.

The memorial will be held in the Chapel of the Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Church at 602 East 9th Street at Ave. B. For information call (212) 982-9446.
