News Mermaid's Sherie Rene Scott to Play the Zipper; Benanti and Pasquale, Too Sherie Rene Scott, who will soon be seen in the new Disney musical The Little Mermaid, will offer two concert at the Zipper Factory this month.

On May 14 and 15 the former Aida star will present Sherie Rene Scott . . . a work in progress (as told to Dick Scanlan). Tom Kitt will be the musical director for the two concerts, which are scheduled for 9 PM on May 14 and 8 PM on May 15. The Zipper Factory — formerly the Zipper Theatre — will also feature a host of other Broadway and cabaret favorites in May. Les Miz's Drew Sarich will perform in concert May 7 at 8 PM, and he will be joined onstage by Ann Mandrella, Steve Gilewski, Brad Carbone, Roderick Hill and Eric Svejcar. Laura Benanti and Steven Pasquale will be the special guests at Todd Almond's concert May 13 at 8 PM. And, performers from both Broadway and the downtown scene will take part in the May 21 benefit for ASTEP, which is entitled Dolly or Bust. The 8 PM performance will pay tribute to Dolly Parton.

The month will conclude with Kiki and Herb's Justin Bond, who will be joined by The Lost References for a May 30 evening entitled (They Long to Be) Close to You. The 9 PM concert will also feature Lance Horne on piano and vocals, Randy Redd on keyboard and vocals, Teal Wicks on vocals and tambourine, Michael Croiter on drums and guitar and Mike Jackson on bass and guitar.
